FIBA Basketball Digital Assets
Since 2019 I’ve created digital assets for FIBA’s Basketball tournaments.
I make the animations that play on the court side LED signage boards. Each tournament has a unique design and colour scheme.
The branding and sponsor logos have to be used in specific ways.
I’m given the brand guidelines and a general layout for every asset. I add the animation and re-size each one to fit the specifications of the LED boards in all the different countries.
I also create different language variations of each asset.
The size of the LED boards varies from extremely wide, to square and standard 16:9. I make sure that the general layout and brand guides are still respected, even though the sizes are very different.
I also render many file types for the different playback systems. Most use .mov or .mp4 but some needed .avi or even .wmv.
Once FIBA have approved my animation, the job is all about the re-sizing and re-formatting.
Each tournament needs hundreds of different sizes. It needs a lot of organisation and attention to detail, but it’s always good to watch the matches and see the work on the LED boards.
