SeeCubic Glasses Free 3D TV

This project was a promo for a new type of Glasses Free 3D TV.

The TV uses a Depth Map and a special layer of tiny lenses on the surface of the screen to create the 3D effect.

The Depth Map tells the screen where each pixel should be in 3D space and the tiny lenses to create a stereoscopic view. The tiny lenses work in a similar way to a Lenticular surface.

To make the film I created all the images as a 2D film and also the Depth Map. I built most of the film in Cinema 4D and rendered a greyscale depth pass to generate the Depth Map.

I needed to make it really clear that the SeeCubic screen is different from a normal TV. Whenever I showed the SeeCubic TV in the film I put layers of depth inside the screen. I was not able do that in Cinema 4D since the layers weren’t in true 3D space, I was faking the depth, so I build the insides of the screens in After Effects and created the Depth Map by hand.
